Androgenetic alopecia and the role of DHT
In androgenetic alopecia, dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is one of the main factors affecting the hair follicle.
DHT is formed from the conversion of testosterone by the 5-alpha reductase enzyme.
Dutasteride is known for inhibiting type I and type II 5-alpha reductase, while finasteride mainly inhibits type II of this enzyme.
Increased DHT may cause
